ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
“As a portrait and figurative artist, I strive to achieve three main objectives in all of my work;
Firstly, to meet the compositional and aesthetic needs of the painting. Secondly, to create a highly detailed, realistic and honest representation. Finally, to capture and reinforce the personality of the sitter, creating an intimate yet sympathetic portrayal. When these objectives have all been met, the result will be a portrait that I can truly be proud of, and more importantly, that the client will cherish for a lifetime.”

PROFILE:
Born in 1973, Nicholas is an acclaimed portrait artist currently based in Wiltshire, in the South West of England. He is renowned for his ability to perfectly capture a likeness, producing highly realistic, meticulously crafted oil paintings.
He began his artistic career as an illustrator and muralist and in 2005 began a long running contract as in-house Art director with entertainments company Chordiem, creating backdrops and props to accompany their stage presentations. However, portraiture was always his passion and after a successful exhibition in 2009 he decided to specialise in this full time. Within a few short years he has built up a solid reputation as an outstanding draughtsman and one of the UK’s finest emerging portrait artists.
This has led to some extremely prestigious commissions, producing work for amongst others; The Ministry of Defence, The Law Society, The Institution of Civil Engineers, The Royal Arch and The Clergy. His work has been sold throughout Europe, Canada, UAE and Australia.

City Hall.

In 2013 he was approached by Storyvault Productions to take part in the first series of Sky’s hugely successful “Portrait Artist of The Year”. (Presented by Frank Skinner and Joan Bakewell). He was selected to appear in the Cardiff regional final, where he painted a celebrity figure in front of a live audience as part of a televised 4 hour sitting.
Aside from portraiture, when possible he paints figurative works (and the occacssional landscape) for exhibition and publishing.  Theses works are represented by Blutulip publishers and many of the original paintings and limited edition prints can be seen online and in galleries across the UK.

He is currently taking on new commissions and although usually working to a waiting list of 3 – 6 months, where possible he will always try to adapt his schedule to accommodate any deadlines.
